if you could please tell me how you converted to b&w and kept the quality still great? ive been looking for a good way to do this, i normally use calculations in photoshop cs2

Thank you. There are so many ways one can make a BW-conversion.
Calculations is one of those, but with this one I have used the channel-mixer.
You could try adding a gradient overlay from black to white and then channel mixer adjustement layer, starting with the constant at -8 and red about 60 and then play around with the sliders to see what you like best.
